Description The Leeward islands form part of a 400 mile long chain known as the Lesser Antilles which separate the Caribbean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. This chain Links South America and Trinidad to Florida and North America.
The winward islands lie south of St Lucia, north of Grenada. They form the outhern most segment of the Lesser Antilles.
Throughout this region you will find excellent cuisine including seafood dishes such as crab and lobster!
Wind And Sailing Conditions The Windward Islands lie across the easterly trade winds which make for easy passages north or south, just far enough apart for open water sailing. The winds normally blow at about 10 to 15 knots in the summer months and from 20 to 25 knots from November to May. Winter season winds are generally north east, while the passage of weather systems between July and October cause north east/south east variations for short periods.
Dining Ashore You will find excellent French Creole cuisines throughout the Winwards. Seafood includes fresh local crab, lobster and Lombi, a large shellfish served from a barbeque or cooked in a delicious spicy sauce
