On the western side on Greece, the Ionian extends from Corfu in the north past Paxos and the islands of Levkas, Meganiss, Ithaca, Kastos and Cephaloni down to Zante in the south.
Wind And Sailing Conditions With ideal wind and sailing conditions, the Ionian is in constant demand. In the south, prevailing winds blow from NW, usually at force 1-3, occasionally 4-5. Sailing in the northen Ionian can be slightly more demanding, though you will engoy line-of-sight sailing between most ports of call.
Dining Ashore Eating out in Greece is a relaxed social occasion to be engoyed at a leisurely pace. The Greeks eat their main meal of the dayat a lunchtime. Menus are filled with the abundant fruit and vegetables of the season.
