This legendary cruising area enjoys comfortable trade winds and line-of-sight sailing in crystal clear waters with plenty of sunshine year round. It is one of the finest and safest sailing areas in the world. Set in the northeast trade belt, grouped around the Sir Francis Drake Channel 60 miles east of Puerto Rico. To the the west, there are around 60 US Virgin Islands, the largest and best known of which are St John, St Thomas and Croix, which are half a day sail from Tortola. N.B Visas are required for entry into the US Virgin Islands.

Wind and Sailing Conditions  Blessed with near perfect weather all year round the Virgin Islands enjoy sheltered waters and stable wind conditions with prevailing winds blowing 10 and 25 knots.
