Antigua Water Sports Holidays
Description  The Caribbean - it's all about colour, culture and a laid back lifestyle. Antigua has balmy trade winds, azure waters and over 365 of the most stunning white sand beaches you will ever see. Palm fringed inlets and reef enclosed cays decorate this fabulous year round destination, where the rhythm of the island's reggae bassline will lure you into the easy going way of life the Caribbean is so famous for. A long time favourite with sailors, this is the island where the rum punch flows and the 'jump up' parties are non-stop, especially during Antigua Race Week, one of the main events in the world sailing calendar. The ultimate Caribbean experience is Shirley Heights on a Sunday evening and you can book transport to and from this party night at the Club. A twenty piece local steel drum band and a reggae band play between 4pm and 10pm on top of the hill with spectacular views of the sunset over English Harbour and beyond. This is the perfect place for all the family to enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere, complete with friendly locals and barbecue food. The best place to get a real feel for Antiguan life is the island's capital, St. Johns. A maze of duty-free shops and busy streets, the centre is lined with colourful market stalls selling everything from clothes, to arts and crafts, food, fish and flowers. The Antigua Recreation Ground in St. Johns is home to many world-class cricket tournaments and there are also some very good restaurants where you can enjoy local specialities and tasty Caribbean cuisine. Hiring a jeep is a great way to explore Antigua. Drive to one of its 365 beautiful beaches and spend the day feeling like you are on your own desert island. Further afield, enjoy a day's game fishing for Tuna or Marlin on a chartered sports boat or a day trip to the islands of Barbuda or Guadeloupe along with helicopter rides to Montserrat. Thrill seekers should head to Kite Antigua, situated on Jabberwock Beach, a 15 minute walk from the Club. Here you can try the thrilling sport of kite surfing under the watchful eye of fully qualified iunstructors. Antigua Race Week (April 30th - May 5th) Renowned as the Caribbean's hottest sailing week, this regatta attracts competitors from all over the world. Regardless of your sailing ability, you can reserve an individual place on board one of Club Colonna's skippered boats and can take part for one or more day's sailing.
