Description Voted the most beautiful city in Canada, Vancouver’s cityscape is marked by sailboats, coffeehouses, arts festivals and even Hollywood film crews year round. The three incredibly diverse cruising grounds range from pure solitude in quiet anchorages to majestic fjords and bustling cities. Wildlife thrives in this region so watch out for pods of orca, humpback and pike whales as well as harbour seals, sea lions and river otters.
Wind and Sailing Conditions Summer winds are usually light (8-12 knots). The cruising area in the San Juans is sheltered by the Olympic mountains. Cruising is ideal between May and September when the area enjoys an almost Mediterranean climate. The tidal range is between 6ft-17ft
Dining Ashore British Columbian Salmon is the Pacific North West's food forte. Depending on the season, Spring, Sockeye, King or Coho Salmon steak can be enjoyed smoked, grilled or barbecued. A wide variety of seafood such as crab, mussels, oysters and pacific fish, is readily available at reasonable prices.
