Description Langkawi lies at the heart of over a hundred islands off northwest Malaysia. Embark on an adventure back to nature, discovering deserted beaches, ancient rainforests, lakes and jungles filled with wildlife and rare, exotic beauty.
Off the northwest coast of peninsular Malaysia in the Straits of Malacca, just a few miles south of the Thai border, lie over a hundred magical islands – some just small outcrops of coral with a few trees and a sandy beach – of which Langkawi is the largest.
Wind and Sailing Conditions There are two seasons in this area. During the November to April season, the weather is consistently sunny and dry with calm seas, though the winds are nevertheless ideal for sailing. In the May to October season rain is more likely and the winds pick up, though sailing is still sheltered in most of the cruising area.
Dining Ashore Langkawi enjoys a vast array of cullinary delights, made up of Malay, Thai, Chinese and Indian cuisine, in a wide choice of settings from elegant hotels and top resorts to chic sidewalk cafes, delicatassens or simple street hawker stalls. Fish of course features on every menu as does fruit - both are endless and exotic in Malaysia. As well as fresh coconuts year-round and plenty of Starfruit.
