Description In the shimmer waters off the eastern coast of Greece, the sheltered coves and scattered islands of the Sporades are the perfect place to unwind, whether on flotilla or by bareboat. With fine sandy beaches, pine-perfumed hills, ancient ruins and abundant sea life, this sailing area exudes a senseof exploration and independence. Start your flotilla or bareboat cruise from the sheltered Gulf O Volos at our Milina yacht base or from cosmopolitain Skiathos. Sporades fleet ranges from 33ft to 50ft.
From the base at Milina in the Gulf of Volos in the nothern Aegean, Sporades cruising area encompasses the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos extending to Skyros in the southeast.
Wind and Sailing Conditions Prevailing winds blow from the norhteast, force 3-4, although occasionnally in July and August wind speeds can pick up - prefect for those in search of a bit more excitement. The cruising area has a few long passages ut most most sailing is line-of-sight.
Dining Ashore Among the bustling narrow streets of Skiathos you may find a Zakhoroplasteia, a bakery or a cafe to indulge your sweet tooth. Treat yourself to a baklava, filo pastry filled with walnuts and honey or some loukamathes, small doughnuts coated in honey. Skopelos is famous for its vines and locally produced wines. Look out for Robola, red or white wines, Manzaavino, a rose and Retsina served from the barrel.
